PLEASE READ THIS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE REGISTERING ON THIS WEB SITE. By registering on this web site, you signify your assent to this Agreement. If you do not agree to all of the terms and conditions of this Agreement, do not register on this web site!
The owners of CommunityOnThe.Net ("COTN") may revise and update this Agreement at any time. Your continued usage of the COTN web site will mean you accept those changes.
By registering on COTN, you declare that you are over the age of 13. If you are 13 or under, please do not register on COTN.
By registering on COTN, you warrant that you will not post any content that is obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
Although the COTN staff will attempt to keep objectionable content off the forum, it is impossible for us to review all content. All messages express the views of the author, and COTN will not be held responsible for the content of any message. COTN has the right to remove, edit, move, close, or save any thread for any reason. By registering, you declare that you understand and agree with these statements.
If you use the COTN bulletin board, chat room, or any other Public Area, you agree to abide by all the following rules. If you believe that a user has broken any of the following Rules, you agree to report the situation to an Administrator. Please be as specific as possible in describing exactly what was done, what rule was broken, who did it, and the URL address of the offending thread if applicable.
(A) Multiple Postings
It is not acceptable to post your message more than once, or to post it in more than one forum. Choose the forum that your question or post best fits in, and place it there and only there. If, after posting, you feel it should be in another forum, use the "Report Thread" button at the bottom of the post and an administrator will move it. We also reserve the right to move posts to other forums and delete duplicates.
(B) Misuse of vB/HTML Code
Over-use or mis-use of HTML or vB Codes may be held as an offense at an administrator's discretion. This would include particularly annoying, large, flashing, or otherwise unnecessary over-use of such special features.
(C) Spamming/Advertising
You cannot post advertisements of any sort in any forum. This includes products, services, or web sites from which you'd directly or indirectly benefit in any way.
EXCEPTIONS:
(D) Crude or Rude Intent
COTN was designed to be a community of people who can help one another, and should be completely free of any profanity and vulgar language. There is absolutely no excuse for being rude to a user. Uncivilized and offensive language, images, or anything else, used anywhere on the board is completely unacceptable.
(E) Irrelevant and/or Inflammatory Postings
While we certainly don't discourage productive and useful debate relating to the particular topic at issue, posts that are made for the purpose of arguing or debating in a nonproductive or inflammatory manner with either the topic starter or another poster are not permitted.
(F) Intentionally Harmful Advice
In the same way, this is a place to help people, not harm them. This offense applies when administration suspects that a user has intentionally posted harmful advice. For example, don't tell a user to type "FORMAT C:" in order to send an email.
(G) Impersonation
This applies when administration suspects a user of misrepresenting their identity, whether to the COTN web site in general, or to another user.
(H) Sharing of User Information or Content
This applies when administration suspects a user of sharing their username and password with anyone else. This also applies when administration suspects one user of sharing or releasing another user's content outside the confines of a private forum or outside the board entirely, without written permission from that user.
(I) Hacking/Interference
This is the deliberate use of any device, software, routine, or activity to achieve or attempt to achieve any interference with the proper operation of the site, as determined by the administration.
(J) Threats/Harassment
This would be threats of bodily harm or other harassment from a user, whether by email or on the board, as determined by the administration.
(K) Other Illegal Activities
As you might expect, we don't want anything illegal going on here. You may not provide advice, information, or encouragement to commit an illegal act. Nor may you ask for same.
